About the Book

My poems pertain to growing up in the country enjoying life in a time of poor economics in a large family, but being rich in love and having  enough of the basics of life through frugality. My motivation came from love and encouragement of friends and family and recogonizing God as the answer to all of life. I hope you may find blessings for your life.

I want to dedicate these poems to my good wife who has been God's greatest blessing to me and a help mate to me for over fifty years.

During my life I have been wonderfully blessed with many wonderful friends. I want to thank each one of my friends for sharing the gift of their friendship with me. God bless each one of you

About the Author

I, Abraham Derstine, was born in Perkasie RD, Bucks Co. Pa. in an apartment over a creamery in a rural area called "Deep Run". We moved shortly to my grandfather's farm in the area. My father operated the farm. There were adjoining  farms owned by my aunts and uncles. My father and uncles worked the farms together. Being born toward the end of the depression we realized the quality of needs in our lives, not recognizing as highly our wants. When I was nine my parents bought their own farm in Ottsville, Pa approximately ten miles distance from the former farm.

My parents had a family of eleven children. I had five brothers and five sisters. I was fourth oldest. When I was fifteen my father got working papers and took me out of school. At twenty I married the most wonderful woman. We had no children of birth, but adopted  three brothers. The Lord has blessed us as we dairy farmed for approximately twenty five years, having owned our own farm for over twenty years.

During my life I've had some health problems. In 1995 during a period  of ten months of kidney stone problems, I received inspiration to share my thoughts and experiences of life and time given to us by God who was, is, and always will be.
