About the Book
This is a story of Cathy’s life growing up as a child with her parent’s and siblings in a safe environment. While she was still in high school, is where she met her “sweetheart” and future husband. They were both virgins and so much in love. They met on a bus while both were attending vocational school for two years. Not one single day did they ever have an argument, but little did she realize what her future was going to be like with him. Six years after being married, just after her child was born is when things progressively started to go wrong. Her husband dropped the “bombshell” on her one Sunday morning that he had decided to go back to being a Jehovah’s Witness. He had been raised as such, but had been attending the Baptist faith with her since marriage. She attended with him for twenty-five years being an open-minded person and wanting to keep the family “together.” Cathy kept many “secrets” to herself to protect his image as an elder of the congregation. She felt like she couldn’t tell anyone about the sexual abuse she endured since the age of ten and the emotional and physical abuse she endured throughout her thirty-two year marriage. Cathy is now willing and ready to tell her story to the world in hopes that those who read it will learn some valuable lessons from it. She also wants her readers to understand how religious organizations can “subtly” take over your whole thought process and being, without even realizing it. Cathy is very candid in what she tells, including her deepest darkest most intimate mistakes she has made her in life. She doesn’t want empathy; she doesn’t want sympathy, she only wants to share….
About the Author
I am a 64 year old white woman, who grew up in upstate New York in a small village. I have an older sister, and one younger brother. I was married for a very long time, but divorced my husband about14 years ago. My parent’s were very strong church attendees, and missing church was not an option for us children, unless we were very sick. I graduated from high school, and then moved to Florida, where I lived for seventeen years. I have lived in North Carolina now, twenty-seven years, which I enjoy the most out of the places that I have lived. I have one married son, and two granddaughters, who live not far from me. I have had numerous jobs in my life, but have been working as a nurse assistant the last several years. I thoroughly enjoyed my life as a child, always playing and not worrying about anything harmful, which was a blessing and pleasant memory for me. I decided to write this book because I thought that it was an interesting story to tell, and one in which many people could learn from perhaps. My future I leave in the hands of God to hopefully find a wonderful man to love again, and share my life with.
