About the Book

Written over the course of many years…varied experiences…failures and successes,

The poet’s prayer is that God’s deft touch can be seen somewhere in each poem and as a consequence, He will be glorified.

Threads of all colours are needed  to weave a  beautiful tapestry. It’s for this reason perhaps that the Master Weaver from time to time permits dark threads as well as colourful ones to be woven through the warp and weft of our lives.

Often, it seems while looking at the back of our personal tapestries, the unfinished work as it were, that there is only a mass of tangled strands to be seen but then, when we meet with the Master Weaver, we get glimpses of the other side, His finished work and are thrilled to see  a beautiful, purposeful, perfect pattern, where the dark and the burnished golds and shining silvers, interlaced through the weave, speak loudly of His mercy, grace and faithfulness .

About the Author

Born in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland, Raymond left school and served his apprenticeship as a Spinner in a woollen textile mill where he worked for twelve years. Leaving the mill and joining Aberdeen City Police Force, Scotland, he served as a Police Constable for 14 years 1967 - 1981. Thereafter along with his wife Kath they ran a small picture framing business. Finally,  he worked with Shell Expro in Aberdeen until his retirement.
Raymond has been married to Kath for forty years and they have three daughters, Wendy, Nicola and Penny. They have four grandchildren. It is really thanks to Kath and the girls that this book ever reached the publisher, through their constant encouragement and prompting.
As a practicing Christian, Raymond’s poems are written very much with an awareness of the need for Jesus in his life and the requirement to die to self on a daily basis.

He depends on the help of the Holy Spirit without whom none of these poems would have been written.

The purpose of this book is that in some way, the poems will glorify Jesus.
As he puts it, “ If you are looking for victory in your life, surrender to Jesus.”
