About the Book
Joy Cometh In The Morning is both a cautionary and informative tale written about Christian and non-Christian teenagers who are confronted with issues of premarital sex, family dysfunction, violence, and teenage sexuality and self-esteem. The book highlights personal transformations through God’s redemptive power and unconditional, constraining love that is expressed through His son, Jesus Christ.
Joy Cometh In The Morning is not only inspirational but also gives a unique perspective on the quality of sin; the approach is everyone—Christian and non-Christian—is capable and culpable of sin yet one does not have to remain as a bond slave to it but can, through Christ, become a bond slave to righteousness. Furthermore, it addresses important social issues such as masturbation and abortion that are taboo in some ministries and households.
Readers—specifically, teenagers and adults of various ethnicities and genders—will not only recognize but also believe in the hope that is inherent in the personhood of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that trials and tribulations can be managed and overcome through one’s personal relationship with God that, consequently, leads to life changing experiences.
About the Author
Deserray James resides in the state of New York where she is under the tutelage of the illustrious preacher and teacher, Archbishop Wilbert S. McKinley at the Elim International Fellowship Church located in Brooklyn. A spirit-filled Christian since 1988, Ms. James has many blessings in her life, the most important of which is her beautiful daughter, Jasmine, who fills each day with wonder. Since her teens, Ms. James has written poetry and short stories, but Joy Cometh in the Morning is her first novel; a cautionary yet informative tale for the Christian and non believer alike. Its completion fulfilled a promise that—through her trials—a relevant story would come forth that would reach the eyes of many. Having a strong desire to effect spiritual change in the lives of others, one of her most passionate goals is to minister to her readers through sharing personal testimonies and the authoritative Word of God as she writes about real-life issues that not only impact the youth but also the despondent and desiccative population of men and women. A missionary and a Health Care Science major, Ms. James cares about the well-being of others and, hence, desires to expand her missionary experiences from hospital and home visitations to international travel, embracing the many souls that are spiritually and naturally impoverished.
