About the Book

Married for only four months, the author and his wife set out on the adventure of a lifetime. Motivated by an unfulfilling job and a shared wanderlust, they decide to enter the realm of international teaching. Written at the most recent peak of anti-American sentiment, the author recalls stories and events in an almost conversational style that tell of life in Europe from a bottom up perspective. Those personal tales are then placed into the larger geopolitical and cultural context of the time. At times critical, at times humorous, but always deeply personal, Surviving Euphoria is as fun and thought provoking of a read as you'll find.

About the Author

The son of a Minnesota politician, Marsh grew up observing politics and society from the other side. His keen sense of observation and dry wit are evident in his writing. He graduated with a B.A. from St. John's University and later with a M.Ed. from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. After teaching in Minnesota for nearly a decade, he and his wife moved to Berlin, Germany. Following a two year teaching "deployment" the ferociously independent Marsh and his wife returned to northern Minnesota where they now live with their new son and golden retriever, Harbor.
