About the Book

Join Indiana artist Peter Bruning in "A Taste of the World", an art book, a visual feast.  On the menu are a rich, nourishing assortment of paintings, drawing and sculpture.  Here are, in splendid full color, some 150 still lifes, landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, portraits and interiors inspired by places you may find warmly familiar or excitingly foreign.  Peter Bruning, an award-winning artist whose work has been in shows, galleries, museums and collections in the U.S. and abroad, has created a delicious smorgasbord inspired by his travels over the years.  It has been noted that his artistic style "seamlessly synthesizes a variety of influences in a unique way."  This artist sees with his heart as well as his eyes, and provides "a refreshing visual world for us to explore and enjoy."  You are invited to sample, at your leisure, various flavors from North America (including Indiana, Iowa, California, Cape Cod, Mexico), the Caribbean and Europe (including Holland, France, Italy, Greece and its islands.)  For those who enjoy travel and relish beautiful art, A Taste of the World by Peter Bruning is a must-see.

About the Author

The Dutch/Indiana artist Peter Bruning is a native of Amsterdam, Holland.  After graduating from high school in the middle of World War II, he chose a teaching career in languages, and completed, in 1949, a degree in Germanic studies, art history and sociology.  Not long after, he came to the United States, and taught German and Dutch at UC Berkeley.  Those were the years that his art career started in earnest, inspired by the beauty of the California Hills and the national parks.  Born with an insatiable interest in people and places, Peter travels whenever and wherever he can.  As an artist, the records he keeps of his travels are visual ones.  Camera and sketchbook hold a wealth of impressions for him until he can, back in his Indiana studio, select a few to develop into masterful pieces of art, a generous selection of which can be enjoyed in A Taste of the World, a book of visual delight and few words.
