My First Steps in the Ministry

As I began looking over my life's journey, I was hit with a reality check. I used joining the military as a means of escape to another life and a new world. The one where I thought everything was good and made just for me. It was made just for me; however, it came at with a price.There was a great price and boy was I fooling myself! Did I think I was so much of a man I could make it on my own, without help from the Lord?

Well, let's take a look at what it says in Ephesians 6:12. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of the age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. So, not being aware of the truth about life and not being led by the Holy Spirit, I went out on my own. I must stop here to remind you that the Lord never left me. It was I who left from under His protection. Not knowing that there is an protective armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-18), I was left open to whatever Satan was going to throw my way. Even though I was taught the word of God. I decided to go through life on my own and doing things my own way. When you want something so bad and you have no idea of how it tastes or what price it will cost. When you try it, you realize that it taste bad and there was an expensive price you would have to pay. Sometimes God allows us to have those things that we want so bad and we have to pay the consequences for whatever that thing might be. It may be a long journey before we realize that what we asked for just might not have been the right thing for us. But if we trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-8) and let him guide our footsteps (Psalms 23) He will restore us and bring us home. We then will realize it is better to follow God's plan than the plan we had for ourselves.
