In today’s society and in various communities throughout the world, people are ridiculed for being different.  Sometimes they are forced to believe that they must change their basic human values and beliefs to be loved by their peers.  They spend all their money, and waste all their precious time searching, and searching… only to find out that THEY are the most valuable person just as they are.  Mr. Hippopotamus had to disfigure himself to find himself. The journey is harsh, painful but very rejuvenating when you realize who you really are and where you came from and what your purpose in life is.  So live life by loving yourself.

About the Author

Mr. Whittington is currently employed by P.A.C.E. Institute, located within the Cook County Department of Corrections in Chicago, IL.  Over the past 35 years, Joseph has worked his way up to the esteemed position of Senior Facilitator.  Although he has held many positions, his goals of teaching incarcerated men and women have always been the same; “Don’t Fail Jail”, how to reclaim their value to their families and how they can make this world a better place.  Most importantly, this is where Joseph first realized his desire to motivate and empower people to self confidence and a sense of social commitment.
