About the Book
The first SMIRK book was compiled through strategic literary litter lifting of pithy; witty phrases from the funnies, bumper stickers, writings of great authors and relaxed kitchen table conversations. That didn't stop editor Agnes Franz.
She scooped out stuff from wider topics and listed quips, quotes and clichés by chapter headlings. This SMIRK Volume #2 is a tad more savvy. You'll find satire and cynicism more worldly-wise as well as comfy down home smiles here. We looked under the skin of wits and the wise. There are belly laughs along with gentle smiles here.
Studies tell us that folks react favorably when humor smoothes life's abrasions. A smile may not prevent sore feet or wrinkles, but it won' trip you up with frown lines. SMIRK wants you to have fun.
About the Author
Humor to SMIRK editor Agnes Franz has smoothed a career in advertising and business. She also published a business-to-business newsletter, Classified Communication, addressing small budget advertising, trends in marketing. It was seasoned with relevant quotes and quips, as well.
She wrote and researched Historic Prescott (Arizona), now in its second printing. She has ten years experience as a SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) business counselor.
The first volume of SMIRK boasted over "1450 smiles." Random items were set in a mix of type styles for readers' eye appeal. Franz switched Volume 2 to be more compact and set in a standard book format. She tends to be a bit adventursome in her work—a leftover quality from business experience and word play with professional types. She loves words and is excited by what they can accomplish. Laughter is paramount.
