Am I in Love
I woke up this morning with you on my mind
and I began to smile uncontrollably.
Just the thought of you lying next to me
made my heart skip a beat from sheer excitement
and caused my body to drag
because I didn’t want to leave your side.
So I laid there motionless and basked in the joy
of your overwhelming presence
while I cradled you in my arms, looking up to heaven,
thanking God for you.
I felt your hand on my chest, caressing my heart to let me know
that your love is here to comfort me
and your head resting against mine as your hair draped
over my shoulders like silk sheets.
The smell of your hair reminded me of a garden
of exotic flowers surrounding me like the morning dew
and the softness of your skin felt like an angel
gently touching me.
I laid there for minutes and realized hours had passed
before I had the strength to leave your side.
My legs were too weak to support the weight of my body
so I sat quietly on the edge of the bed
admiring how beautiful you were to me; then I finally realized
I was in love
