About the Book

What has happened to teachers and students over the past thirty years, in and out of the classroom? “Winston Churchill Was a Catholic Priest” is a humorous, sad, unique, and poignant collection of true teaching episodes that happened to a high school teacher in New England over that period of time and more. As a social studies and theater arts educator, he has seen and heard it all. Being president of the teachers’ association for the last four years of his career provided a keen insight into circumstances that only teachers could experience and have to deal with directly.

Crazy answers to test questions—from whence the book’s title came—provide understanding into what makes a typical public high school what it is today. Teachers will relate immediately, and the general public will learn much of what makes public schools tick.

“Winston Churchill Was a Catholic Priest” is a fast-paced read about a career of a man who persevered through it all, from challenging kids to challenging authorities. For everybody in schools today and everyone who ever went to school, this non-fiction story will strike you as compelling as it is real.
