About the Book

This fictionalized account is based on the shocking true story of an up-and-coming firefighter, the rising star of the department. Over the course of an accolade-laden career, he shoots up the ranks toward the position of captain as he demonstrates a tremendous amount of uncommon courage and valor. On the fast track toward becoming chief, it seemed there was nothing that could stop his dizzying ascent toward success. That is, until the political winds changed in his town and corruption began to reign. Burned is the story of how a good man’s life was first disrupted and then destroyed because he would not compromise or “play ball” with rampant organized crime and political wrongdoing. It is an important parable of good versus evil in today’s society, showing that, unfortunately, the good guys don’t always win. If it happened to this man, under these circumstances, it could happen to you.
