About the Author

Growing up together in a family that honors togetherness and shared meals, cooking up delicious homemade cuisine was a way of life. Well, actually, it was more a way of life for City Girl’s mother, Cindy Christman. Unfortunately, authors Hillary Christman and Natalie Urig did not absorb too many of Cindy’s kitchen skills and feigned interest when it came to learning any of Cindy’s prized recipes. In other words, City Girls, Hillary and Natalie, left the nest without knowing how to cook anything other than macaroni and cheese, the microwave version.

And, so the story begins in a City Girl’s Guide to the Kitchen.

We are two sisters living on opposite sides of the country. We both share expensive taste for fine food and fine wine. However, shocked as we were at the time, we did not become millionaires when we graduated college and landed our first job. So, unfortunately and with much resignation, we were not able to hire professional gourmet chefs to cater to our decedent palates. While this seemed tragic for a few years, it eventually led to a major life break through, an epiphany one might say. We decided to take matters into our own hands and (gasp!) learn to cook! However, we did not stop there. We realized there were probably millions of City Girls out in the world with this same dilemma. So, we rallied the troops and were overwhelmed at the positive response we received. This book is a collection of recipes from City Girls around the globe. It is our sincere hope that we relate to our readers through this book and provide not only delicious recipes, but perhaps a few laughs as well.

Hillary Christman, age 28, lives in San Francisco, California and works for a technology company. Her sister, Natalie Urig, works in the Finance industry in Charlotte, North Carolina and is 26 years of age.
