After an uncomfortable silence, Lewis ventured, "What do we do, sir?"
Wolf took a few steps away, and stared into the trees.
"What was the wind?" he asked.
"Blowing west, fairly light," Falcon supplied. "Died soon after."
"Bail altitude?"
"No more than a thousand feet when we dropped."
"Vance?"
"On the floor. We were tailspinning."
Wolf nodded, his mind calculating and replaying an event he had not witnessed.
"He ejected at no more than five hundred feet. Light wind carried him less than two kilometers. He could see the smoke, he saw the lake, he knew where we'd beach. He knows everything."
"Let's just get back," Falcon urged. "We'll stay together."
Wolf was still staring into the trees.
"Seven times my brother has wronged me," he said to no one. "How many times shall I forgive him? Seven times?"
Ustaf and Falcon exchanged confused glances, but Lewis spoke, taking a step toward Wolf.
"Not seven," she said. "But seventy times seven."
Wolf nodded slowly, raising his hood over his head once more.
"I'll kill him," he said simply. "But he can't make me hate him."
