"I know I have hurt you deeply, Sam, but as Clayton has found it in his heart to forgive me, I ask you, could you find room in your heart to forgive the things that I’ve said and done to you also?"
Samantha was absolutely astounded at the words that came out of her mother’s mouth. She leaped into her mother’s arms and cried. "I forgive you Momma," she whispered, "I forgive you with all my heart."
"I will do better, Sam," Judith added, crying herself. "I won’t let you down. You will see."
A faint voice in the background was suddenly heard growing louder and louder. "Samantha! Samantha! Were are you?" Ruby yelled. "Samantha!"
"We’re out here, Ruby!" Clayton yelled, looking inside the house.
A few moments later, Ruby walked out of the door and saw Clayton. "Goodness gracious!" She screamed wide-eyed. "Mr. Clayton, is it really you?"
"In the flesh," Clayton smiled.
"Praise the Lord!" Ruby shrieked with delight. "Like Moses in Egypt, the Lord has parted the waters and set you free!"
"That he has, Ruby," Clayton nodded.
"That is beautiful way of putting it, Ruby," Judith approved, looking up. "How are you doing?"
"What are you doing here?" Ruby demanded. Her demeanor suddenly changed when she saw Judith. "Whatever it is, you need to get out of here!"
Clayton placed his hands on Ruby’s shoulders and lightly squeezed them. "It is Ok, Ruby," he said with understanding. "Ms. Ellensburg has something to say to you."
Judith broke away from Samantha and walked over to Ruby. "I know I have hurt you, Ruby, and I know I haven’t been kind to you."
"No, you haven’t," Ruby interrupted, "And you are not welcome here, Ms. Ellensburg," Ruby growled. "You have hurt this family enough with your evil ways and I suggest you leave before you hurt us again, or get hurt."
"I want to say that I am sorry for hurting you and this family, Ruby. I know I have done a lot of bad things in the past, and I want to apologize for them. Would you forgive me for the way I have treated you and the way I have treated your family? I don’t want to be evil anymore, Ruby. I want to enjoy life another way, a way without the power of money. I want my family and friends and I want them to love me for who I am, not for what I have acquired. Could you teach me how to love in that way, Ruby?"
"Are you playing with me, Ms. Ellensburg? ’Cause if you is, so help me…"
"No, Ruby," Judith denied. "I am sorry for the way I have hurt you. Please forgive me."
Ruby bent over and looked into Judith’s eyes and then reared up in ecstasy looking up toward heaven. "Praise the Holy Jesus Christ and His Father in Heaven for there has truly been a miracle here today! Blessed be the name of Jesus for our prayers surely have been answered."
"Ruby?" Samantha asked softy. "Would you like to lead us in Pastor Green’s Prayer, the one that you taught me?"
"Of course I would!" Ruby squealed happily. "I wouldn’t miss thanking God for the world for this one. Let’s all bend our knees and kneel down right here and praise His Holy Name, Halleluiah!
"Thank you, Ruby."
