Congo Dreams
Day dreamer
Night time wanderer,
Come... and take a stand.
Join me in this mangled fight,
Against the seeds of my own land.
I’ve been raped and beaten
Passed around
Watched my mother’s die in vain.
Men cut their throats, and stole their pride,
Left them to hang in shame.
I’m just an innocent wanderer.
Tell me, when will this end?
I haven’t slept for many years
Because of fearful men.
My name is Congo, though I am many,

About the Book
In Beauty for Ashes, April hopes her poems and writings bring about consciousness and awareness about life’s trials and tribulations that many face in our society today. She believes that once your eyes and mind have revelation, your heart will be opened and the healing process will begin.
About the Author
April Pryce, a native of Lumberton, North Carolina is the daughter of Lamont and Julia Butler. She is also the wife of Kingsley Pryce, a United States Marine, and the sister of ten brothers and four sisters. Writing poetry has been a passion of hers since she was in the fifth grade, and believes that in every desire of our heart, there is a purpose.
