No Love For Life
there is no sentence long enough
no punishment tough enough
for someone who has taken a life
the life of a loved one
someone you cherished
held dear to your heart
a ten year sentence
twenty years in prison
even lifetime imprisonment
not long enough
can not pay for or justify
the brutal, unwarranted slaying
of a person left defenseless
by someone so evil
being stabbed repeatedly
shot numerous times
bludgeoned to death
run down
crushed beneath the wheels of a car
choked until blue in the face
slashed with a razor sharp object
pleading, and begging for mercy
a family torn apart by grief
the thought of never seeing a loved one again
wanting to turn back the hands of time
to change what has happened
to say I love you
to hold on and never let go
hearts bleeding with the pain of loss
tears falling uncontrollable
a hurt that's inconsolable
feeling lost, overwhelmed
by the tragic reality
starring you in the face
a tragedy that shouldn't have been
a suffering that never ends
there is no sentence
no punishment great enough to heal that wound
to make it all better
and you realize that you're not dreaming
just living in a violent world
with uncaring people
who have no love for life

About the Book
In this book I pour out my heart and soul through words meant to elevate you to another level. I share with you my thoughts and feelings on many of life’s issues. It is my journey and I know that there are some who have been down these same roads. Walk in the words.
About the Author
This is my first book of poetry, but there will be more to come. I started writing at the age of fourteen. Writing was my way of escape from a world that I did not understand. I have won a few poetry contests and have read for different events. I have also been offered contracts to write music, I chose to write a book. I am a mother of two and a grandmother of one grandson. I love to read mysteries and spend time with my grandson.
