A differant woman came out of the house. It struck me that it would be Wendy's mum. "Hello," she said. "I was told you had a little friend with you. Who are you."? She directed her question at me, her voice not too kind. "I'm. er! Fred." I said. Overwhelmed? Cowed by this ever so posh looking woman. "He lives in the Red House Hotel." volenteered Wendy. "Is your dad in the army,? Based here."? She asked. "No he's in the navy." I said. "Oh are you staying with your mother then."? "No." I answered I got feeling more uncomfortable and a little peeved, not so much with the questions but at the way they were asked. "They put us there when we came here." "They."? She seemed to ponder. "Oh! your an evacuee!" Her face changed as this dawned on her. Talk about horseshit in the lane, it looked like she'd caught a mouthful when she said it. Since writing his story, Seven Half Crowns and handing it out to a number of people, for opinions and feedback is surprised at the number of ex-evacuees who also had bad experiences.
