Chapter 01 The Doctor that delivered me named me after himself.
I was named at birth, James Wilcox Bishop. I was born into the family of William Joseph and Agnes Lillian Beckham Bishop of Cedar Key, Florida, an Island town three miles out in the Gulf of Mexico, about sixty miles west of, Gainesville, Florida.
My Daddy was a commercial fisherman. He went on a two week fishing trip, and while he was away my Mother went into labor. Someone ran to Dr. Turner's home, and summoned him to come deliver me.
Dr. Turner lived down the road from us; about the distant of a stone’s throw. I was born October 1, 1931.
After I was delivered, Dr. Turner asked Mama what name to put on the birth certificate. She said, "we haven’t chosen a name for him."
He wrote on the birth certificate not named and went home. I suppose he put the certificate on his desk after he got home, and forgot about it. Probably a day or two later he thought about it, and figured he better fill out the certificate, and put it in the mail. He knew my family well because my Grand Mother Bishop was a midwife, and she assisted him when he was called to deliver a baby. So I guess he figured it would be all right if he named me. Dr. Turner, named me after himself. Dr. James Wilcox Turner was his name. He wrote on my birth certificate James Wilcox Bishop, and mailed it to Vital Statistics in
About three weeks later my Mama received my birth certificate by mail. James Wilcox Bishop, was my official name. Remember I said that he wrote on my birth certificate, "Not named." not named was my first name.
Dr. Turner was a fine Medical Doctor, he treated me several times. One day I accidentally got hit on the forehead that caused a gash about an inch long. It was bleeding very profusely. My sister Kathleen, carried me to Dr. Turner, and he stopped the blood within seconds. I cried when I heard that Dr. Turners had died. Dr. Turner married Mrs. Virginia Tooke. They raised two daughters, Margaret, and Sarah. Margaret and Sarah graduated from Cedar Key high school. They went to college and became school teachers which made there Mother, relatives, and friends proud. At this writing both Margaret, and Sarah are retired from the school system..

The year, 1995, I bought myself a computer. After purchasing it I connected everything together. I didn't know anything about Computer’s. I couldn't type, which made it difficult for me to use the computer. When I was in high school typing was not offered, because our high school had burned and all the type writers burned too. I decided to purchase a soft ware program that taught typing. After installing it to my computer I proceeded to learn how to type. The first thing that it taught was the location of the keys, qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm etc.
It looked hard, but it wasn't long before I had learned how to type. After learning how to type, I began thinking about writing my life history. I thought it over, and as I was thinking about my past life I came to the conclusion that I have a unique life behind me, and it was worth telling the whole world about how great my life is, "and how blessed I am," to have lived an exciting life as mine, and lived to tell about it.
