About the Book

I have been writing poetry from when I was a little girl. My poetry scans many facets of life – sadness, joy, laughter and spiritual. Having had many poems published in various anthologies through the years, here in the UK, and in the USA, I am at last achieving a lifetime’s ambition to have my own poetry book printed. I would now like to share my poems with the world and hope you enjoy them.

About the Author

My name is Sheelagh Chimes I was born in Plymouth in the UK in 1941. I started writing poetry when I was 9 years old. When I was older, I started to write more, and friends would ask me to write a poem for a wedding or a special birthday card. In the last 10 years, I have been noted for my poetry. My favourite poem is “The Poppy” I was studying for my ‘A’ Level in Art & Design I was at the Tate Gallery and was especially moved by the paintings and photos of Soldiers in the First World War. I came home and sat down and wrote “The Poppy” – I also included the Second World War and other wars as well. My other favourite poem is “The Angels.” I went to Washington, in America to receive awards for my poetry. Winning $50 for a poem in a competition, I received another medal this year, Poet of the Year 2006. People say my poetry is very powerful... I enjoy reciting my poetry to anyone who likes to listen to it. I feel a lot of my poems are inspirational. Words just come into my mind and I have to write them down. Since I wrote this I have received another award from America, The International Society of Poets Who’s Who Award and I am also being honoured on July 22nd in Las Vegas at the Poetry Convention. I was unable to attend, so a Professional Poet is going to read one of my poems on my behalf. I am to receive a crystal statuette with my name on it as well as a bronze medal. Also on the way is another medal which is the Ambassadors Poetry Award. I feel very honoured my poetry is being recognised this way.
