About the Book

About the book

Expect to hear the voice of God.  Morning by morning, day by day, God beckons me to hear and heed Him, “that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: He wakeneth morning by morning, He wakeneth my ear to hear as the learned” (Isaiah 50:4).  The poems in this book are the result of going to the Bible each day with an expectation that God has something very important to say to me.  That expectation has NEVER been disappointed.

Our risen Lord said, “I stand at the door and knock.  If any man hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).  This intimate, two-way communion with God is not offered to the individual who has no interest in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, for the Bible plainly states that “the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:  for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).  In contrast, those who have received the Lord Jesus (John 1:12), thereby “have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God” (1 Corinthians 2:12).

My prayer is that God may use this book for His glory, for the encouragement of His own children, and for the persuasion of those who may be yet awakened to their need of our Savior.  “Blessed is the man that heareth Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the post of My doors” (Proverbs 8:34).  Morning by morning.  Day by day.  Don’t miss it for the world.

About the Author

About the Author

A prolific writer of Scriptural songs and poetry, David Edwin Hall continues to write daily devotional poetry to the many who have requested his day by day encouragement in the Scriptures.  His writings are also posted daily on his personal blog entitled, Quiet Time Poems, located at http://quiettimepoems.blogspot.com/.

A retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer, David earned his BA at San Diego State University (Spanish, Sociology) and a subsequent teaching credential (English Language Arts) at National University.  He has been a regular speaker and song minister at various San Diego outreaches, providing weekly Bible Studies and pastoral visitation to a local convalescent home.

His greatest passion guiding his teaching and writing is to convey a clear conception of the Gospel, presenting the evidence of fulfilled prophecy, the historical resurrection of Christ according to His promise (and the promise of Old Testament Scriptures), the revelation of God’s holy judgments across the pages of history (which were also clearly foretold in prophecy), and the obvious purpose and design in creation, culminating in the Scripture’s affirmation that those who willfully ignore the evidence that validates the Gospel of Christ “are without excuse” (Romans 1:1-20).

David’s spiritual journey began in the early days of his naval career during the night watches he stood aboard the U.S.S. Midway in 1973.  Having rejected religion as a weakness in the minds of those who refused to accept the notion that, after all, we just don’t know what lies beyond grave, he sought to engage others in honest conversations about eternity - with little satisfaction.  Finally addressing his concern heavenward in a “God, if You’re there” fashion, he was led to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, then thrilled to discover, and consequently share with others, the marvelous evidence that Jesus Christ is Lord indeed.
