LIFE
What is life?
A good question to ask
What is reality there are so many masks
The bible says that: “we live our lives as a tale that is told”
We are born then we die; so the story unfolds
You are born, you grow up, and then you are old
If you die prematurely, then your existence was cold
Some people live their lives to the fullest
Some live by the gun and die by the bullet
Some people get rich
Some people stay poor
The difference is who moves quickly through life’s open doors
Some people make mistakes but they blame others
They take no responsibility for their actions they blame father or mother
Life itself seems like nothing more than a joke!
It is there one minute but disappears like smoke!
At the end of your life you look back and wonder what it was worth
Was it worth all the pleasure; was it worth all the hurt?
Did you do your work or did you live free?
Was your work real easy or were you busy like a bee?
Were you a prominent figure in the world, or an outcast of society?
When the going got tough did you sink or flee?
Did you rise to every challenge, or get crushed by adversity?
In all these things were you conquered, or were you more than a conqueror?
Did you set the standard or cower in terror?
Will it be said of you that you were an over comer?
In the game of life were you a strong runner?
This is Life the course is set
Don’t sit around wondering why you’re not in the race yet

MY POETRY
When I get inspiration I write poetry
I write to express what’s inside of me
My imagination is as high as a leaf on a very tall tree
Or it can be as low as the earth where the earthworms creep
I write about some of the things that I see
Because when I put my pen to the paper it is the only time that I am truly free
Free to write out what I think about what I hear
I write about some of my hopes and my fears
I write about my laughter and my tears
I write about my triumphs and my jeers
Sometimes I can write about those for whom I deeply care
Or I can write about those pretty honey-bun sistas with the beautiful ebony hair
You know the ones that smell like the luscious lotions from Avon or Mary-Kay
I get inspiration for poems almost every day
I never know when it will hit me, whether it is at work or at play!
Hi, my name is Eldon and I’d like you to come take a lyrical journey with me, from the light into spiritual darkness, and back into life. But not just any life but the life that only God can give. Come with me and experience my triumphs and failures, ups and downs, my light and my darkness, all on life’s merry go round. You will experience my personal spiritual darkness and the power of God’s love and his redeeming light. Then come and witness the power of the tongue.

About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Eldon M Thomas (1980-) was born on the 21st of March 1980 to a Mr. Noel L.F. Thomas and Mrs. Hyacinth Thomas in Georgetown, Guyana on the continent of South America. He along with his family (minus his mother, who went to be with the Lord Jesus in 1985) immigrated to the United States on March 7th 1992. He attended and graduated from both Orange Middle and Orange High Schools in his adopted hometown of Orange, New Jersey. Upon graduation from Orange High, Eldon joined the United States Marine Corps on July 6th 1998, where he served for four years before being Honorably Discharged from Headquarters Battalion, First Marine Division on July 5th 2002. Although Eldon was raised in the church, he didn’t really fully accept the Lord Jesus until he was 22 years old. And only after some of life’s trials and the teaching that he received from church, did he near the end of 2003 accept and get filled by the Holy Spirit of the Most High God. That is where his journey with the Lord began. Then in January of 2004 during one of his church’s (Newark Gospel Tabernacle) consecrations did he experience God’s touch and the gift of poetry that God placed in him was truly unlocked. That is where our journey begins and that is where our book ends. It began with God and it ends with Christ. But Eldon’s journey doesn’t end where the book ends, but that is where it truly begins.
Eldon now resides in Orange, New Jersey with his family where he works as a security guard while actively walking(with God’s guidance) in the gifts of artistic expression that God has so mightily placed inside of him.
