About the Book

While I share my life story here, I remain fully aware of the fact that it is not possible for just one individual’s experience to paint a detailed picture of the extent of how much the whole nation had suffered. Nonetheless, I hold a strong faith in my heart that what I put on record here in this book will contribute in one way or the other in informing and enlightening the readers what an ordinary Tibetan like me had to endure and hopefully shed some light on an important period in our history.

About the Author

I Tenpa Soepa was a victim of that period and I want to share here a detailed account of the years I had spent in Chinese prison. I was imprisoned from March 20 1959 to March 18 1979, exactly for twenty years. During the two decades of my life in prison I was completely disconnected from my family and society. It was the most difficult period for the whole generation of Tibetans as everywhere we had to endure extreme hardship and challenges. Tibetans in Tibet became the direct victims of China’s cruel policies while Tibetans who followed His Holiness the Dalai Lama into exile had to face immense difficulties as refugees.
