The elusive one sat in deep contemplation. His actions last
night had left him rejuvenated. He felt reborn and saw purpose
to his life. Yet, he was uncertain how he wanted to handle
Detective Perry. Should he make a game of it by stringing her
along and eventually driving her mad? Or should he simply rid
the world of her meager existence? She had been the most fun
thus far, and in an odd way, he might miss her. Either way, she
would learn to fear him intensely and respect his power, just as
all women should. He relished the day he would have her
beside him, for as long as he wished. The simple touch of his
hand on her body would bring him such euphoria. He fantasized
about how she would scream and plead for her quick death, just
as Denise Steidman had done. He never imagined the sound of
a woman screaming could be so delightful. But it was, and he
basked for a moment remembering previous victims. He then
returned his attention to Detective Perry and sat still in the
darkness.

A feisty, young detective, Gina Perry, is on the trail of a serial rapist whose violence escalates to murder. As she follows the leads and diligently pursues all suspects, she becomes not just the hunter, but the hunted. The killer breaks into her apartment and threatens her with a knife, but is interrupted and manages to escape. He then begins leaving personal messages for her at the crime scenes. It becomes painfully obvious that the man who attacked her is the same man who is terrorizing the city.
Angered and determined to stop the killings, Detective Perry desperately searches for clues to reveal his true identity, before time runs out. It is up to Gina to save herself and everyone else from the wrath of the deranged killer!
About the Author
Vicki Lucky was born in Connecticut, but grew up primarily in Missouri. She always had a passion for mysteries and the investigative field.
She graduated from Missouri Southern State College with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration and Associate of Science in Law Enforcement in 1991.
She has worked as an investigator of various types for the last nineteen years, including as a background investigator for the federal government, a federal criminal investigator, and currently a private investigative contractor.
She lives in a small town in southern Missouri.
