The Fall Mission

“The work I was doing is a dangerous work and the scope is broad, the forces were comforting, if requesting in a humble way that I should stay in tonight and relax."  I’m an energetic person, my drive for my research company is rivaled only by my personal life. My career choice is an massive undertaking, anything other then my work schedule  (friends, dating, work), those obligations are sometimes hard to meet. 

I remember talking to friends about it. “The career I’m involved with is taking a vast amount of work. It involves hiring a lot of employees. The commercial aspect of it is extensive. I travel at least twice a year. In any case, what someone may think is a positive, or a negative about the business, just having it, gives me the greatest joy!”

Feeling complete and with the approach of 5 years in business, I planned an anniversary party. I was intent with keeping the party’s purpose and arrangements under control. “Calling to talk?…” I asked, “don’t let it get out of hand!”

It was September 4, almost three weeks before the end of summer and the start of  fall. Where I live, the city was getting cooler, most of my neighbors, employees, and other people I know, like every year, was eagerly awaiting the colorful show of autumn leaves.

A crisis arose, also a foe, I would see on a screen millions  running and thousands dropping. … “Now, Mr. Williams what am I going to do to you?” The foe would yell.  In my defense,  “when I backed all the way up, my back pushed against a loose concrete block and light came through!” I was cornered, but not beyond limits. what would you do if you were backup against a wall?

The life I developed was in jeopardy and although my expectation at this very important annual party was the ongoing concern, to figure the crisis out. I took a vacation. My travels would bring me to new countries and companies, jumping from site to site, modern technology was for and against me.

Like most, I tried to stay far from danger, but things got tense at times, I found myself in situations like car chases and fights. Shifting and turning from clue to clue at almost every finding trying to put a mystery puzzle together. I could only hold tight to the type of spirit I would need to keep going.

“I know he feels that way…I’m going to solve this mystery…” I thought. I even “foiled their plans…still I found myself keeping a tight gripe on my handbag and briefcase handles and looking around the room...”

It was a real risk going on an action and adventure trip, but it wasn’t all bad, I had the chance to meet a wide range of people and cultures. People who would be allies. “Hey! Remember right after leaving the others?” I asked, “did you smell the banana trees on the plantations?” And after walking a little farther and smelling something else. “Yeah!” they all shouted in unison, “it smells like cacao!”

And a hostile group who would serve as part of the overall plot.  “In the distance there were some speedboats…he got out of the helicopter…” They were on the defense, their system began breaking down.  “They called one man a traitor, disloyal, and need to be…” Which part of this introduction did you like the best? And what would you do if you heard words like, “He’s from our town…I don’t know maybe he’s among us,  that’s someone from our town!” They kept saying.
