About the Book

THIS IS A COMPLETELY HONEST ACCOUNT OF HOW ONE MAN BATTLED TO OVERCOME ILL HEALTH AND STILL MANAGED TO LIVE A LIFE OF ADVENTURE AND EXCITEMENT. PATRICK DALY STRUGGLED WITH BAD HEALTH SINCE CHILDHOOD AND, DESPITE THESE DISABILITIES, COMPETED IN MARATHONS ACROSS THE GLOBE. BUT THE MAIN POINT OF THIS REMARKABLE STORY IS HIS 30 YEARS OF WORLD ADVENTURE, FROM NEAR-DEATH INCIDENTS, DETENTION IN LAOS, A COUP IN THE PHILIPPINES, THE KILLING FIELDS OF CAMBODIA, AND THE MAFIA IN HAWAII, PLUS MANY COMICAL AND BITTERSWEET EVENTS ALONG THE WAY: HE WAS ALL AT SEA IN THAILAND; TRAPPED IN THE TUNNELS OF VIETNAM; AND HAD THE LAST LAUGH ON THE OBSTREPEROUS OSTRICHES OF SOUTH AFRICA.

About the Author

This is my first book as I wanted to share my battle against bad health, particularly as a child and during early teens. Hopefully It might give others hope when faced with similar health problems, in particular to maybe Asthma or Spondylitis sufferers.

Despite this, I went on to travel around the world many times; always as a tourist.

Having always had a sense of humour, along with a bubbly character( please don't think I am  being modest), I think this helped me through some bad times, even up to the present day, as I still suffer.

Having said that I am lucky compared to what many others go through, as I have come across many cases in my numerous visits to hospitals.

So when faced with various dangers and dramas  in my many travels to exotic, and at times dangerous places, I used these gifts to face up to these challenges and I believe it helped me tremendously.

So after certain people persuaded me to share these stories in  this book, I have tried to add humour to the events at the time.

Having said that, we are all different and it is not always possible to be happy and jolly when faced with such discomfort and pain.

I have just tried to write this book as honest and as humorous as may best explain the person that I am and the humour of my travel traumas.
