“Now,” said Joe, “if you ever get lonely or sad look up at the stars and make a wish.
Somehow I will know and wish it back. I’ll do the same thing if I get lonely.”
“Agreed. Somehow I will know but I don’t understand why,” said Betti wondering.
Making that pact right there for it would be used many times. They do not understand how they will know but it feels right.

“Push!” said Dr. Maxwell.
Helping her push, he then counts to ten with her, offering encouragement, then rubbing her shoulders when she is done. She wants to quit pushing like most Mothers to be, but he has other ideas.
“Remember in high school and I would not let you quit. I'm sure not going to start now,” whispering in her ear.
She smiles at that. She thought about what he had said and she can picture him in the stands doing just that. “I'm going to kill him,” she laughs to herself.
“One more push should do it Betti,” said Dr. Maxwell.

“Uh, Betti, please don't get angry but I have a request...”
“I could never get angry at you no matter what it is.”
“I would love to kiss you right now.”
“What's stopping you?” she asks moving closer to him.
Slowly Derrik moves closer to her placing his hand on her shoulder his lips meet hers. He kisses her. Pulling away he opens his eyes to see her reaction. He sees that she approves so he kisses her again.

Closing her eyes she tries to imagine herself looking back at the last year and a half. She begins with Joe. Their night together. His return for the birth. The day he left, “I told him I loved him. I do love him,” as a tear falls into the water.
Six weeks later she meets Derrik, “It started out innocence enough. It just happened. I enjoy his company. Like Joe I could spend the rest of my life with him.”

“Do you love him?” asks Joe bluntly.
“I love you Joe. I told you so in the airport,” she said quickly trying to reassure herself.
“I didn't ask you about me I asked you about Derrik?” he repeats.
“Not sure. That is why I was crying. My emotions betrayed me. I feel something for both of you.”

About the Book
Joe and Betti as children were neighbors and best friends. As the two grow so does their friendship. The two attend colleges he at West Point she at UCLA but still bonded by friendship. Joe becomes aware of his feelings and knows his heart but keeps his tongue. The night before he is to fly to the Balkans they become passionate. Does he come home for the delivery? Will he stay? Joe may know his heart but Betti struggles with hers. While trying to find her love she comes across Derrick. He seems too good to be true. Is he? She is never totally there as part of her heart is with someone she may have lost to an accident. Who will she walk down the aisle with?
About the Author
I love romances that actually have a next day. I love movies that continue after the sunset. So I thought why not in a book. We have all enjoyed a good story but enjoyed it more when it ended like we wanted it to. When I decided to write I wanted a good clean book but wet the imagination a little. Books do not need to be explicit or graphic to use your imagination. Once I had decided to write, it had taken a few years to finish this one due to the nature of the military. Now that I have finished this one I began writing my second still untitled but almost finished. With all my books the ending will always be a wedding to me that is the best part.
