About the Book

This book is a combination of poetry,  prose,  song and short stories. Its purpose is to provoke thought and to highlight our most extreme passions about life.  Poetic Chocolate is a walk through political opinions, social concerns, self-esteem building,  spiritual uplifts, love and pain. 

All characters in this book are fictional and are based on the author's imagination and creativity. 


About the Author

Gina Batie is a graduate of Prairie View A & M University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and a Master of Educational Administration.  She also produced a CD of poetry- The Sensual Soul of a Single Poet.  Poetic Chocolate is her third published book of poetry.  She is presently working on Chocolate Soul her second CD of poetry. She was the artist liason, coordinator and host of the Umoja Jazz and Poetry show, host and coordinator of the Kaleidoscope in Black artist show.  She is the founder of PURPOSE an adult writing group and Expressions Young Poets Society, a writing group for children ages 6 - 9 years old.  She is the CEO of Poetic Expressions, a company that combines poetry and visual art to develop numerous products.  She's been featured in publications such as Stand Magazine, the Red Pub and Good Day Women's Christian Magazine.  She has won several poetry awards from Cyfair College and Writer's of the Wood.  She is a visual artist and the designer of the book cover for this book.

She is a member of the Kingdom Players, a Christian theatrical group and The Artform a poetic performance group.  She has performed in plays such as Mary, Mary, God's Will But Not God's Way, and she co-wrote and played in the stage play Be Still and Know.  She has written a play Through the Eyes of Our Youngest Victims which depicts the emotional, as well as physical devastation of the New Orleans Katrina victims through the eyes of the children.
