About the Book

This series of landscapes was based on my desire to combine the natural world with my interpretations of that world.  Art is a juxtaposition of the real and the imaginary.  As we “see” the world, we have opportunities to use our creative abilities to transform that world into unique works of art.

The images in this series were photographs I took over a period of time in various locations including Germany, Boston, Salem, Norway, Italy, Scotland, England, Chicago, New York, Rhode Island, Kansas, and Tulsa.  The photographs were manipulated for special expressive effects.

About the Author

I was born, raised and educated in New York City. During my childhood, I was constantly exposed to the myriad of cultural experiences in the arts that this great city offered.  By the time I reached adulthood, my main interest was in the visual arts.  I found inspiration not only in the works of artists, but in my environment.  Travels to other parts of the country and abroad intensified my quest to discover and develop my own artistic vision.

My educational background includes a BA (Queens College, New York City), a Masters in Art (Hunter College, New York City), graduation from The School of Visual Arts (New York City), and an Ed.D (The University of Tulsa).

I dedicated my professional career in art education as a teacher, developer of visual arts programs in high schools and at the university level, and as an evaluator and presenter for the College Board Studio Art Program. At the same time, I continued to produce and exhibit art.

Over the years, I had numerous opportunities to participate in group and solo exhibitions.  My one-man shows were held in The Performing Arts Center in Tulsa, at Oklahoma State University (Tulsa campus), in The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and in Kansas.  Group shows included regular participation in the annual Tulsa Mayfest Invitational, a special art educators’ exhibit in the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa and in various galleries. My recently published book, Dancers, is a photographic and artistic exploration into the world of dance.
