About the Book

This material was written to aid the non-native English learner in the use of prepositions, adverbs and particles when used in combination with verbs. It is part reference book and part story book. The reference section introduces commonly used combinations of these words and provides clear examples of how they may be used. The story section of the book functions as an exercise in which selected combinations can be used within a meaningful context.

About the Author

The author of this material was born in southern England and began his academic life studying civil and structural engineering; but, alas, he prematurely finished his studies to pursue a future in computer programming.

A few years later, and feeling unsatisfied with his role, he quit his job to visit Mexico, and it was there that he remained for almost eight years, teaching the English language and considering its structure.

During the last two years of his stay in Mexico, he dedicated his time to fulfilling one of his ambitions: to write a book. He now resides in his hometown, thinking upon which of his previous selections of career he should follow.
