Another balloon, a shiny, grape-purple balloon, was so full of air that the sun shone bright yellow off of its skin. It was a beautiful, warm day in May, and the balloon floated lazily toward the small schoolhouse, and landed on the roof just outside of the window where the children were hard at work learning their spelling words. The balloon POPPED when it touched the hot tiles of the roof. A swirl of purple dust sprayed into the air and caught a ride on the passing breezes, lightly sprinkling the schoolyard and settling in the fields. All around, the yellow daisies and dandelions became spots in the purple heather flowers that sprang up in the fading swirls of purple haze. When the children came outside to play, they began to giggle with delight and ran through the flowered schoolyard, picking bouquets of heather, daisies and dandelions to take home to their Mothers and Grandmothers.

About the Author
Janet Bonner has lived on the Eastern coast of the United States from Western New York to Florida and over to the Midwest in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. She received her BA in Health Care Management and has since worked in the Medical Field, taking five years away from her career to represent her Village and District in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Western New York as Mayor and County Legislator. When she was inducted into the First Hall of Fame of her High School Alma Mater, she realized she had done some pretty amazing things that she thought she'd only dream about! And so, Balloon Wishes was born, giving hope to those who think their wishes are too high to achieve. You really can do amazing things through wishing, believing and doing!
