About the Book

This is a true story about an adventurous and mischievous boy who, despite the temptations to follow in the footsteps of his juvenile delinquent best friend, develops into a good high school student, a very talented athlete, and a gifted architect. It’s a story about a man using his smarts, talent, good looks, and ambition to conquer the world.  And, it’s a story about a man with a secret - a secret so powerful that it had begun to derail his life.  This book tells about how this man’s denial of a mental disease nearly cost him his life.  It also describes the turmoil he lived in and of the years that his condition robbed him.  Most importantly, this is a book about a man who fought for his life, mastered the skills for managing schizophrenia, and is living a productive and happy life.

About the Author

The author was born and raised in a small town in the Four Corners area of the United States.  He and his seven sisters and three brothers were raised in a Catholic home by a very strict father and a sympathetic mother.  He was the first child in this large family to graduate from a major university.  Over a period of four years, he earned an Associates Degree in Engineering Technology from New Mexico State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico.  Subsequently, he worked in Colorado and later in California as an Architectural apprentice.  After his military discharge and after a medical hiatus, he began writing and working part-time and continues to do that today.
