The Mirror.
I stand in front of the mirror on the door.
Behind the door is my future.
The mirror reflects my past and I stand in the present.
Suddenly the mirror it is my life-
it shatters onto the floor.
I try to tape the pieces back together,
but the jagged edges cut my fingers.
My blood drips to the floor.
I look around, but no one is there-
no one is there to catch my red tears-
no one sees my pain.
I am left alone-
bleeding hands, a broken heart, and a shattered life.

About the Book
Reflections is about my life as an adolescent and my journey into adulthood. It focuses on the trials and tribulations that I underwent as a teenager and as an adult. My trials and tribulations began in St. Lucia, my birthplace at an early age. Love, heartache, life and death made me write in the privacy of my home and it was then that my passion of writing poetry began and has continued to this day.
About the Author
L. Stayce Palton a native of St. Lucia in the West Indies. She is a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Reflections is her first book of poetry. She is currently working on her second book.
