THE TWENTY FIRST

 Ye maun admit ah’m gettin’ oan

Ah’m very near hauf thru’;

Fur that ah’m reely thankfu’ John

Fur soon ye’ll get it noo.

It micht no’ be the thing ye like

But still ye maun agree

Some time the Muses gae oan strike

An’ puts up the bar fur me.

When that occurs ah cannae write

Altho’ there cam’s the itch

Tae pit in verse some bonnie sicht

But the Muse; contrary bitch

Decides that ah’m no’ in the mood

That ah’d likely dae ma worst

But still ah maun no’ start tae brood.

Ah’ve done the twenty first.
