Do I believe that Christianity is an insane religion? No! Do I believe that Christians are insane? No! I do, however, believe that some doctrines have come down the pike that are not completely true and in some cases just the product of someone’s imagination. Therefore I did not write this book to take cracks at Christians nor to bring reproach on the Christian faith. I have been a Christian myself for sixty-seven years.

Rather this book is designed to challenge the thinking of many who have questioned so many of the doctrines of the Christian faith for so many years without a reasonable answer from someone with an open mind. Too many theologians, seminaries, Bible colleges, and denominational organizations are steeped in tradition and set in their ways and moreover unwilling to admit that there is more to Biblical Christian doctrine than they have supposed. This has done untold damage to the Christian faith. As a young man I began to read the Bible for myself and discovered that some things that I was taught as a child were half truths and in some cases completely incorrect.

Unfortunately Christians have a strong tendency to just accept whatever their predecessors accepted as truth without examination. We think that our theologians are right because they have degrees. The problem with that thinking is that most theologians were taught the same traditional concepts about God and the Bible that their grandparents were taught, and they pass all of it along to us as the gospel

truth. Therefore the following pages will challenge your traditional thinking about many of the so-called facts of the Christian faith.

Since I have been a Christian all my life, preached and pastored for over forty-five years, obtained my doctorate at age sixty-two by writing a dissertation on the miracles of Jesus, and lived through every recent war including World War II, I feel that I have had some degree of learning that just might shock the traditional Christian, open the eyes of the agnostic, and maybe give the atheist some additional ammunition to use against Christians everywhere who are not deep thinkers. Who knows? Perhaps it may likewise disarm some of the atheistic attacks generally used against those same Christians who are not deep thinkers. I’m glad I live in a country where we have the freedom to express our views openly.

The following are subjects of what I feel are truths that I have taught for many years, challenging the traditional concepts of the Christian faith at large. I teach them as “elective” subjects, highly interpretive, and do not and would not demand that anyone accept my revelations or viewpoint without hearing from God for themselves. Nevertheless, could it be that we have not been told the whole truth coming out of the Dark Ages? Is it possible that there is more to learn than our denominations have taught us? Is there another viewpoint? Should we investigate? Acts 17:10-11 tells us that the synagogue of the Jews (true descendants of Judah) in Berea received the word of Paul and Silas “with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Should we do any less?

Therefore the two-word question of “what if” becomes an all-important factor as we look into the Bible and search for truth. What if there is another side of the coin? What if God is revealing a greater dimension of truth today than in the past? What if we have been told half truths? What if—heaven forbid!—we have been deliberately led to believe a lie? When God told Daniel to “seal up” the vision until the “end time,” it appears to me that the end time is upon us and it is time for the whole truth of God to be unveiled and both sides of the coin examined. This means looking at the traditional side and the other side. So far we have just believed what was handed down to us from the Reformation without question. It is not popular to question the so-called establishment, but it is wise to seek the truth so that the truth will set you free.
