Til Dead Do Us Part

    I was grabbed from behind and I kicked my foot straight back and up.  I hit him hard in the groin but he didn’t even flinch.  He just wrapped his arms around me and the big one on my left threw a straight right that landed hard on my temple.  I saw stars, literally, and slumped down.  I would have fallen but the man behind  me was strong enough to hold me up on his own. 
    Al stepped in and I kicked out at him but he moved to the side and grabbed my leg.  He moved close and threw an uppercut into my solar plexus.  I had just enough time to tighten up and took it without losing my breath but before I could react, Al followed with a right to my ribs.  This one hurt a little more. 
    He hit me twice more high up on each side and I only partially blocked them with my arms.  The guy on my left hit me again on the side of the head and I started to lose it.  The one behind me let me go and I went to my knees.  Al kicked me hard in the stomach and I doubled over, fighting the nausea.
    Without another word, they all left the room, with me curled up like a fetus on the floor.
    I was still there when Harry came back in.  “What the hell happened to you?”
    I was still doubled up on the floor.  I could breath but not without pain. I didn’t know if I had any broken ribs, but they were damaged.  And my head was still spinning.  Or maybe my head was still and the room was spinning, I wasn’t exactly sure.
    "I slipped."
