CATS
Cats are a funny lot.
They are independent and carefree,
But they are always curling around your feet.
Crying "Look at me, look at me."
They get fat and sassy with the fish and cream
They demand from you and me,
Sleep all day in the sun,
All night they are on the run.
When you put them out at night
And turn off your porch light.
All the cats in the neighborhood
Climb up your car and leave
Tiny footprints all over your hood.
Early in the morning, when you open your door.
You see cats and more cats.
Then you blink, and you see no more,
For they can run and hide.
While your cat is waiting patiently to come inside
As you are fixing his treat
He is purring around your feet.
All morning he follows and talks to you,
And in your heart, you know he is your friend through and through.
