When I was five my father died. Not really dead, but dead to us. He found another wife and child, and Mother cried for years I think. Then Grandma came and we could hear the Song of the Birds Returning. Mother was Father and mother too, who worked by day, by night was schooled, and Grandma came at sixty-four and after ten she raised four more, and we could hear the Song of the Birds Returning.

About the Book
This is a book of poems that I began to write at the age of twelve. They have provided me with an outlet for the many emotions experienced over the years. The poems are about life and I hope they will fulfill a need for the reader, as they have fulfilled a need for me, the writer.
About the Author
The author is a retired school teacher of twenty-nine years. She is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary's Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. A graduate of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas, with a Bachelors in Education, A Masters in Special Education, and a Certification in Gifted and Talented. She has written Poetry, Songs and Plays since her first poem at age twelve.
