Buried Secrets

Walking slowly down the stairs, Jessica finally reached the bottom. Suddenly, she stopped and froze in her place. Listening closely she could hear what seemed to be footsteps coming from the kitchen. In a trembling voice, Jessica called out “Is someone there?” Waiting for a moment, she called out again. “Hello?”  No one answered. “Oh come on scardy cat!” She said to herself. “It’s only the house settling in."  Not thinking anymore about it, she headed for the front door. Placing her hand on the doors handle...Crash!  Bang! Jessica practicaly jumped out of her skin from fright! Breathing heavily she moved quickly into the living room. Looking around the cold darkened room, Jessica noticed a basket of wood sitting on the floor next to the fireplace. As she continued to quiver, she then reached down and quickly grabbed onto a large piece of the wood. Shaking uncontrolability, Jessica listened very closely, but did not hear a thing. Holding the log tightly next to her body, she crept silently towards the kitchen. Just as Jessica entered the room, she heard the footsteps again. Frightened, she quickly turned around and headed back to the living room. Moving silently in fear, she made her way to the china cabinet, then wedged her body between it and the wall. Holding the log high above her head, she listened as the shutters outside banged against the window. Waiting a few minutes more, Jessica lowered the log and began to slowly step out from behind the cabinet. Suddenly, she tripped and fell backwards into the grandfathers clock, managing to move it just a little. Jessica's heart raced rapidly as a strange sound startled her. Looking down on the wood covered floor in front of her, she seen a flat square silver box. Reaching down she quickly picked up the box and placed it under her arm. Moving slowly through the darkened room, she could not see or hear anything. Jessica took the silver box from underneigh her arm and placed it carefully into the rolled top drawer. Holding tightly onto the fireplace log, she crept slowly through the hall. As the thunder crashed around her, the lightening flashed making it easy for her to see. Suddenly...Jessica let out a horrible scream!!!
