Many people wait for the future to happen. They live and spend their lives in expectation of a day or an event or a time yet to come. To most people the future is an indefinite time still far away. But what most of us fail to realize is that the future has already begun. It is not waiting to commence. It has already started. For some other people, the future they once anticipated is already past. Whatever may be your ideas or definition of the future, its imperative you understand that you are ultimately responsible for the future you would experience or already experiencing. Though the term ‘Future’ sounds like a distant time or event, our futures have already begun.
For most people it may sound strange to hear that they can create the future they want. It may even be an unusual thing to do or attempt. But that’s the same reason only 5% of the worlds population are able to live the kind of life they dreamed of and enjoy the future they wanted. The other 95% still consider it unusual to create their own future and may never enjoy the kind of future they really desire in their hearts. But the fact remains that deep down in hearts we all desire a better life and future for ourselves. You can create the future you want. Yes it’s possible to achieve your dreams and enjoy the success your heart desires.
Creating the future you want means choosing; envisioning; planning; and actively pursuing the type of life you desire to have. This implies two things; 1.You are not leaving your life to chance or fate to decide the outcome of it. 2, you are productively engaged in making the things happen necessary to create the life you want.
Your future is connected to your thoughts. Your life will always move in the direction of your most dominant thoughts. Constantly think about bills and paying mortgage and you tend to worry more. On the other hand constantly think about the possibility of having and creating other opportunities of making more money or getting a promotion and you tend to get more excited and become hopeful. The quality of life you would enjoy or experience some years from now is already being shaped by the things you think about the most today. Our thoughts form our actions, which in turn form our future. Thoughts are like seeds. They bear the fruits that eventually crystallize into our future. Charles Reade (1814-1884), an old English dramatist, novelist and journalist said, “Sow a thought, and you reap an act; Sow an act, and you reap a habit; Sow a habit, and you reap a character; Sow a character, and you reap a destiny.” That statement may have been said nearly 150 years ago but it explains why a lot of people end the way they do. It provides a though why some men and women become great and others turn into mediocre. What you think about grows. Success starts with a thought. So also does failure. Whatever you think upon grows.
