SOLDIER
Stern, Assertive, Discerning
She burns with the fire
That sheds light on the darkest hours.
In stride she manages not to panic
When obstacles come haunting her....
Knocking at her door.

Roll over to
Feeling like a ton is above her shoulders,
But walking as if guided by the wind.
So untimely wise and inside is a prize fighter,
Who climbs higher, renowned writer.
So many attributes she passes through episodes
Where passion rules and the truth takes her
To a vulnerable place in her youth.
Her composure is shaken.
The evident, despite the truth of it
Screams loud as the cathedral bell resounds.
Upon the throne she faces the scorn of one who can feel
The joys and the pains of the Earth and its people.
She weeps for the throes of those older.
A soft spot does dwell in this soldier.
Exterior strong, her heart seemingly colder
Armor brawn to protect a tender interior
Thankless jobs and economies down periods
Holding her head above water, downtrodden in spirit
But a smile across her face
That shows a soul unbroken, unshaken
From life’s ways of trying to take.
Never taking a break, but shining like she made the day
Creating balance and a life that nurtures her true way
Going to battle in establishments
