About the Book

The poems you are getting ready to delve into are inspired by a combination of life experiences, music and desires.  Some of the experiences are those of which I have personally encountered, and others are of various friends and relatives who have confided in me with what they were enduring as well as enjoying out of life.  They range from the subjects of love, heartbreak, nature, slavery, street-life among others.

I have come an extensive way to approach this milestone in my life.  For the past several years, I have spontaneously written whenever I felt the inkling to pick up a pen and put my thoughts on paper.  Consequently, I have promised myself that I would accomplish my personal objective and publish these “Poetic Pages”. I am elated to announce that finally, this moment has arrived.

About the Author

I was born in Birmingham, AL and reared in the city streets of Detroit, MI.  Therefore, I have a little southern hospitality mixed with a northern personality.  I have obtained an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Wayne County Community College and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Detroit Mercy, which I could not have accomplished at the time without the loving support and assistance of my God Mother and God Father Bettie Taylor and Watt Robinson, who provided child care for me while I diligently completed my courses.

As a single mother of two children, Antoine and Zikoya Prince, whom I birthed at the tender age of 17 and 19 respectively, I am also currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Psychology at Walden University.  In Addition, I am a journalist for a local magazine in Jacksonville, FL, where I presently reside continuing to write poetry on a regular basis and occasionally perform spoken word.

PS (Thanks Mom for allowing me to see a living example of a persevering, determined, independent woman. Thank you Senolia McCamble for being such a dear Grandmother, and much love to my sister Kenyetta Gee.)
