I always enjoyed visiting Aunt Pearlie. She was so kind and loving. What I remember about her today is that her family lived on a farm. She would send us out into the cornfield and tell us to get her a bag full of fresh corn and she would make fried corn for us to eat. I can remember that was the best fried corn I have ever eaten, even until this day. About the Book
Why write this book now? Well, I’ll tell you. I’ve been thinking about writing this book for a very long time. When the thought of this book would become fresh in my mind, I would put it off.
I graduated from high school on May 18, 1955. I often wondered about my classmates—where they were and what they were doing. Some of my classmates I had not seen since that day years ago.
One particular day, September 27, 2004 to be exact, I was thinking about a female classmate of mine named Jeanne. I had not seen her since the day we graduated from high school.

When I got to the third post of my backyard, the phone rang so I went back inside, answered the phone, and said “hello.”
The other end said, “Hello, Johnny Springer.”
I answered the phone and said “hello” again and asked, “Who’s speaking please?” And the voice said Jeanne. Quite naturally, I thought Roger had already spoken to her, and had given her my number and told her to call me. So about three to four minutes into the conversation, I asked her if she talked to Roger, and she used one word that surprised me, and that word was no.
I immediately asked her if she meant she had not spoken to Roger.
She replied yes, and that she had not spoken to him in a long time. I said, “You have got to be kidding me.” She said, “No, Johnny, I am serious.” I told her that about forty-five minutes earlier, I had called
