Brian Ford-Powell’s poetry collection will take you from humour to romance and into many other areas of life – many reflecting his own broad background.  Written in understandable styles, this rhyming poetry is for everyone.

About the Author

Brian Ford-Powell was born near St. Helen’s, and a number of his childhood years were spent during the Second World War. He completed his National Service in the Royal Air Force and, for a shirt period, saw active service in Cyprus.

Brian’s business career was a broad one. He was twice Chairman of the Leicester branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and later became the inaugural Chairman of the Institute’s East Midlands Region.

A long association with the game of football has seen him a class-one referee, Referee’s Assessor, Chairman of a Referee’s Society, Vice-President of a local league, Chairman of a Charity Football Association and Chairman of a non-league football club. His voice is well known to BBC Radio Leicester listeners, over a period of almost, two decades, as a regular contributor on non-league football.

Brian moved to Leicestershire in 1978. He served as a magistrate for over twenty-two years and is retained on the supplemental list of Justices for Leicestershire and Rutland. He has also held the Bishop of Leicester’s licence in the office of Reader, in the Church of England, since 1989.

Whilst the bulk of his work falls into the Humorous, Philosophical and Romantic categories, the author’s involvement with the worlds of business, church and faith, together with football, broadcasting (and the stage), are all reflected, at some point, in his poetry.

Brian is married to Daphne. They have three children, the eldest, Ann, is a Senior Practice Development Fellow in Mental Health with the Royal College of Nursing. The elder son, Simon, is an executive officer in the Civil Service and Ken, the younger son, is a music teacher at a large Comprehensive in Cumbria. Brian and Daphne have six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
