About the Author

“Inner City Struggles” is the first published manuscript from Courtney Rhyne-Brett.  He was raised in an environment where he witnessed first hand all the carnal warfare that the gang life represented in the 80’s and the 90’s.

In 1998 he was shot point blank range in his back and his thigh by gang members and lost his mother to cancer ten months later so this was a traumatic time for Mr. Rhyne.

In 2000 his daughter Cayla Rhyne was born and this motivated him to change his life around and go back to school.  In 2005 he received a BA Degree in Recreation Administration from Cal State Dominguez Hills while quitting his job driving buses for MTA to pursue a career in writing and in the field of Recreation.
