About the Book

Selvbiografi, Norwegian for autobiography, is a collection of poetry from Louise Frances Daniels.  It took several years to complete, and yet it only contains 84 poems.  The book is unique because it is broken down into elements instead of sections.  The poems within focus on drawing something from you, rather than just telling you a story.  However, instead of depleting you, they allow you to create an element within yourself.  Air, the first element in the book, is a fantasyland of imagination that inspires you to breathe.  Water is tragically beautiful and claws for your tears.  Earth is short, but personal.  Fire dances on the page, but won’t burn you, and Universe opens your mind with questions and opinions.  Selvbiografi can either be read front to back, element-by-element, or poem-by-poem.  Each element and poem is independent of each other, but flow together with a unifying energy.

About the Author

Louise Frances Daniels was born in California in 1984.  She moved to Texas the summer of 1997.  Louise had fallen in love with writing poetry in the fourth grade and was introduced to competitive prose and poetry reading in the Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) during high school.  She also participated in Drama, earning the Dramatics award for her entire high school as a freshman.  During her four years in high school, she also won numerous acting awards while competing in One Act Play competitions.  In 2002, she joined the United States Marine Corps, where she decided to have her poetry published for the first time.  “First Love” is one of her oldest poems being published, written in 1999.  The poem “Solarium,” which incorporates nine poems into one, was written in one day while stationed in Iraq in 2006.  In July 2007, Sgt Daniels finished her final draft of Selvbiografi and recently returned from studying English, for one semester, in Oxford, England.
