The snack bar was deserted except for
“Hi, although I don’t look like one, I’m a student here. My name is
“I’m Nicole, I’d like to talk, but I have to catch a bus.”
“I’ve a car here, would you accept a ride?”
“I’d love to.”
They left the snack bar. Nicole was walking swiftly and proudly. Ky felt like he was walking on air.
“Here’s the car. It’s an all-wheel drive. Understand that winters can be severe here – a real challenge.”
“Yes, last winter was pretty bad. Once we were nearly a week without electric power. The school was closed for four days. Your all-wheel drive will come in handy.”
In the car, Ky and Nicole talked about the courses they were taking at the University.

This book is about Nicole, a brilliant young writer, who is introduced to drugs by her boyfriend, and her long and tortuous struggle to throw off the chains of addiction.
About the Author
Ce’ MacCiaran is a former trial lawyer with more than thirty years’ experience. He is a graduate of Duke University and of Wake Forest University, where he earned his law degree and MBA. He also has a graduate degree in liberal arts from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He has traveled extensively to Europe and in the Caribbean. Ce is divorced and has four grown children. He currently resides in the Triad area of North Carolina.
