On the other side of town, the light emulating off the street lamps made it's way into Jessica Berkowitz's darkened apartment. She placed a hand on her belly as she watched the snow come down. "This was going to be a lonely Christmas for her", she thought to herself. She looked down and rubbed her stomach. "Sorry,baby." She turned and made her way to a closet and opened it. She retrieved a small box that contained a Christmas tree. She sat it down on the floor. "It's not much baby but we might as well have a little Christmas together,anyway." Now, this may not seem like much to anyone on the outside. But only the day before she was contemplating the fate of her unborn child. And......her own life as well. For Jessica had been rejected by her family. Labeled a "black sheep." Indeed,as big as the world is, it seemed to afford less and less room for her. Surely, she thought,she must have been written off by just about everyone. Thus, she had written off those same people......She felt like she had fallen into a well of despair and there was none that bothered to look in on her. And that hurt.
She was scared for herself and for her child which perhaps played the slightest role in her daring to even make an appearance at the service earlier. It was from that service that she gathered strength from to face another day......the words from Pastor Hayworth's sermon continued to fill her mind. They offered hope. Life. Neither of which she experienced for so long. Her heart felt so dry up until that point that could swear that if it was possible for her to see it,it would look as chapped as the dryest lips. As she sat in the pew earlier, she could almost feel something bigger than herself intervening in her life. Some..ONE perhaps. She chuckled and began to get out the little tree and put it together. As she did she clicked "play" on a small cd player and let Christmas music sing to her and to her child........

Martin P. Trudell was born in Burlington,VT. He has relocated to several different states before moving to Albany,NY where he now resides with his wife and six cats. Martin has ministered at various churches and on television as a guest and co-host of The "Jesus Loves You" show for six years. He has written and acted in several skits and plays and was involved with the theatrical production of "His Love Hasn't Changed" which was the first of its kind to be presented at "The Hilton Theatre of the Arts" in Albany. He has written plays for Davids Tabernacle School of the Arts in Loudonville,NY. In his spare time, Martin enjoys his wife, nieces and nephews(Nick,David,Emily,Elizabeth,Justine and Christian),Bible studies,old tv shows,and football. This is Martin's first book.
