About the Book

Each new day offers us the opportunity to create the vision of who we are in that moment.”  Have you ever walked along the beach at sunset aware of the symphony created by the rhythm of the ocean washing up against the shore?  As you breathe in this beauty, life seems to filter the worries of the moment.  You become swept away in the simple oneness that is and commune with something greater than yourself.

“A Heart’s Reflection, In Search of Love & Friendship” is a poetic tale of love and friendship that represents a personal collage of moments shared.  It is a collection of synchronistic snapshots with people, places and events.  A story grounded in the desire to give a spirit the voice to express all that is held within each of us.  The book creates more questions than answers in this journey of the heart that invites us to explore our own “sole’s” path.

The inspiration for A Heart’s Reflection comes from a spirit yearning to vocalize the connection between all of us.  A winner of an Editor’s Choice Award from the International Society of Poetry, this collection of poetry reveals the precious gift of moments spent with another that define the vision of our life.

The book is divided into six chapters: A Spirit’s Journey; Love’s Many Paths; Misplaced Love; The Family Walk; A Friend’s Reflection; and Private Reflections.  The chapter entitled A Spirit’s Journey focuses on connections of the spirit that transcends the physical dimension.  Love’s Many Paths contains poems about falling in love.  Misplaced Love shares the struggle in relationships, and ultimately the gift that exists during these difficult times.  The Family Walk focuses on certain family relationships and those special times shared throughout life.  A Friend’s Reflection tells the tale of the gift of true friendship.  Private Reflections share the bond forged from a life in search of certain personal truths.

About the Author

About the Author

James Peys is an eclectic who spent his childhood consumed with sports, school and work.  Surrounded and thus influenced by educators, inventors, artists and poets, Jim has always been intrigued with the arts, travel and a broad range of people, contemplative topics and personal spirituality.  After graduating from St. Michael’s College (Vermont), he traveled to California to attend law school.  While at Whittier Law School he published his first research article, and then became an editor of the law review.

Upon graduation from law school, Jim commenced a career in business and real estate.  Around this time whether it be luck or synchronicity, he was fortunate to join a spiritually rich community in Long Beach that challenged him to be in relationship with a myriad of people.  The chaos of life and careers presented unique challenges, followed by the typical setbacks of young adults striking out on their own.  While parenting three children, Jim reacquainted himself with the journey of the pen.

A Heart’s Reflection is a culmination of Jim’s journey in relationship with the people who have crossed his path.  Each relationship helped create a mosaic that has fundamentally changed his perspective on love, friendship, family, personal spirituality, and his respective relationship with this world.

Jim remains passionate about the same topics he was exposed to since early childhood; experiencing family and friends in the context of a personal journey of the heart.  He currently resides in Long Beach, California with his wife, Michele, and their three children – Christopher, Carolyn and Michael.
