As usual Andrea was carrying out her weekly ritual of arriving at worship service thirty minutes late. Prior to making her perfectly-timed entrance at the conclusion of the praise and worship service, Andrea visited the ladies room. She had to conduct a final self-inspection.
After cocking her hat at the correct angle, she fluffed her shoulder length copper-colored hair. She applied a light covering of Ivory bronze powder and evened out her lipstick by pressing her full lips together. Andrea despised her lips; she thought they were too ethnic. She never applied more than one shade to them at any given time.
While tugging at her favorite red and gray suit from her Dureé Schaffler collection, she whispered, "Forty-nine and still fine."
Finally, Andrea heard her cue, the music was fading out. Now for the entrance she had waited all morning for.
As she entered the double doors, she was greeted by a tall slender woman who issued her a friendly smile and a program.
"Good morning," the woman said.
"Good morning," replied Andrea.
"Follow me, please."
As the lady made her way toward the front of the sanctuary, Andrea followed behind. Each step was slow and deliberate as if she was on display at a dog show. Finally the usher turned and made a pointing gesture to a vacant area of a pew. Upon taking her seat, Andrea heard several people whispering.
